this is a space
with many purposes ( still u n f o l d i n g )
I want to offer a place outside of current social media options - for those distancing themselves or who choose to stay off the online grid. Even for those with social media, E M A I L feels: like I’m not competing with an algorithm, like I could write looser or longer, like it’s something I want that sounds fun.
I’m so so so glad you’re here. If it serves you, please stay and get cozy and I’d love to hear back from you. If it does not, I send you off with love and care and may you find many wonderful things you’re looking for.
what i am working on
L E F T
This is a painting that started as two ideas and I am beginning to combine them, with the intention of still doing two separate paintings afterwards. My two ideas were: (1) the crouching figure reaching into a stream. She is from my recurring dreams; she is my daughter in the dreams. (2) the dark diamond/triangle shapes are nuns walking up a hill. This imagery is from a story a dear friend told me while they were living as a monk in India. They said most mornings the nuns from up the hill would walk down, gather snow in large woven baskets, and walk the snow back up the hill. It has been a comforting, silky, very cloudy/snowy/windy thought I’d like to come back to.

My friend and I are working on glass painting, in hopes to have a larger scale collaboration between his stained glass and my painting. We are in the beginning stages which seems to include lots of trial and error.
It is good to be placed into a child’s mind / beginner’s mind. It is also good to learn new things regardless of age or skill level. I love the immediacy of paint - not that my paintings are necessarily done in one sitting - but I always leave seeing a physical change. The paint is always ready for me. This new medium is teaching me about process, process, process and is mainly where my spiral has been showing up: Learn, Commit, Do.
I am seeing my painted windows as my paintings collaborating with light. I titled a recent painting “Collaboration with Light” because this particular piece was playing with whites: cool and warm, peachy or bluey. It demands a sensitivity that color and light bring when they play together.
what’s coming up
Adult’s Class at Grounded: this is the second adult class I will teach. I’m pulling a lot of what I learned in Mexico to teach the class and I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully there will be more!
July kids art camp: non traditional portraiture and figurative art
I am SO READY and excited to see what happens here.
I was asked to paint a backdrop for a local event in Jackson, so keep your eye out for where it’s headed! Seeing it photographed in a field gave me a glimpse of something from a dream. Photographer is Noah, @shotontheblock on instagram - he’s a must follow!!!
I have a solo show at Havner’s Frame Shop in Jackson, TN on August 5th. More details (and an official poster) to come. I have felt every emotion possible while preparing, but mostly grateful.
more, more, and more stained glass to come! The friend who is teaching me stained glass and collaborating with me made me dinner while I worked and called many times for me when food was ready but I was so sucked in. I hope to continue on this journey , collaborating with him, color, and light.
is anything for sale?
Most pieces I have are going to be for sale at my show in August. If you see any I post on here or social media you’re welcome to contact me and I also take commissions.
However, one piece has gone through two potential owners now and I want it to be taken in. Please contact me if you’re interested in this special piece.

(what I am taking in and want to share, influences)
^^^How this baby is gently touching a statue of a spiritual being welled up many feelings in me.
^^^ THIS podcast episode featuring Andrea Gibson, who was already one of my favorite poets. They have been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, and have the most honest conversation about death / peace / tragedy and how human it is.
^^^ This FAN-TASTIC article written by one of my favorite art historians, Katy Hessel. Our sweet Franciose Gilot passed away at 101 years old mid-June. She deserves and has always deserved to be recognized for her own prolific art practice, despite most of the art world only recognizing her as Picasso’s lover/ muse.
one of Gilot’s masterful pieces ^^^
^^^ This sweet chain of a goodbye hug, releasing our dear friend on her next adventure. Perhaps this will be a future painting…
